Making heritage festive

From the end of November, the whole of Colmar puts on its finest clothes and dresses up for the festival, transforming itself into an immense Christmas market in which smaller markets are nestled in squares made exceptional by their heritage, where it is very pleasant to stroll, to shop, to drink a little mulled wine or to stop off in one or other restaurant.

The ingenious imagination of the inhabitants of Colmar, shopkeepers or private individuals who are keen to perpetuate the tradition of Alsatian Christmas, stimulated by decoration competitions, adds an original and traditional touch to the streets and squares of the town which you will discover with surprise and pleasure.

Thus, windows and balconies are decorated with Advent wreaths symbolically marking both religious and secular Christmas and adorn the facades with a thousand touching objects that make the centre of Colmar a magical and timeless place.

The fir trees and the trees studded with garlands of lights dress the streets and alleys of Colmar, traditional music plunges the visitor into the heart of an atmosphere like no other, made of emotion and childhood memories.
